Water is one of the most important elements on our planet. The majority of our bodies are made up of water. In its purest form water has a molarity of 55M.
Write a response to the following prompt and then respond to your peers. Your individual response is due Thursday at 11:59 pm (CST)Your response to your peers is due Saturday at 11:59 pm (CST)
On a planet with different gravity, would the Molarity of water be different? Explain your reasoning.
What to submit:
Individual Response: Post needs to be between 200-250 words. Pay attention to clarity, organization of ideas, and grammar. Please cover all topics in the prompt.
Peer Response: Provide constructive and courteous feedback to a response from one of your peers. Should be around 100 words. For this portion I want you to use the N.O.W response format where you “Notice something of interest,” “Offer a comment” and “Wonder about something.”
•Exceptional (16-20 points): Individual responses take a stand on the issue and are backed by concepts either learned in the chapter or credible research found online (and cited correctly). You will not be graded on how “correct” your answer is, but on whether your answer makes sense logically. Peer responses provide constructive feedback in the “NOW” format. They address why something might be incorrect and provide an alternative reasoning for a different point of view as well as wonder about something the original answer may have missed.
•Mediocre (10-15 points): Individual responses take a stand on an issue but don’t line up with the concepts learned in the chapter or found online. Peer responses provide constructive feedback on why something might be incorrect but don’t provide any alternative reasoning for a different point of view.
•Needs Improvement (0-9 points): Individual responses don’t take a stand on the issue and are not backed by any credible source. Peer responses just criticize the argument of the peer and provide no reasoning or real feedback.

Mass is defined as a measure of the amount of matter in an object. It’s a fundamental property of an object that is not defined by its position in the universe hence electron, proton and neutron have the same mass as any other electron, proton and neutron in the universe. And weight is the force exerted on an object due to the acceleration of gravity. The weight is equal to the mass times the acceleration due to gravity (9.8 m/sec^2 on Earth).
On the other hand, molarity is a unit of concentration defined as the number of moles of solute divided by the number of liters of solution expressed in units of moles per liter. The mass of any substance is independent of gravitational force. Weight changes with gravity. Molarity deals with mass not weight and volume is independent of any gravitational force and water to some extent compressible, a mole of it would occupy a smaller volume in a high gravity field. And if the volume occupied by a mole decreases, the molarity increases. However, the difference would be minute to the point of undetectability therefore, on planet with different gravity molarity of water would be the same.
