This week you have been placed in POETRY groups – Check inside to see which poet you have! Read the poet’s bio (included), then write a poem ABOUT the poet! You may choose to write a cinquain, a Haiku, or an Alphabet poem! Just be sure your poem describes the main information you took away from your poet’s bio. Be creative…
Cinquains are five lines long.
They have 2 syllables in the first line, 4 in the second, 6 in the third, 8 in the fourth line, and just 2 in the last line.
Cinquains do not need to rhyme, but you can include rhymes if you want to.
Line 1: 5 syllables
Line 2: 7 syllables
Line 3: 5 syllables
An ABC poem has a series of lines that create a mood, picture, or feeling. Lines are made up of words and phrases. The first word of line 1 begins with an A, the first word of line 2 begins with a B etc.
Post your poem by Friday at 11:59 p.m.
Then, by Sunday at 11:59, read one poem from each group, choose two peers, search for, and read, a poem by that poet, and form a response that:
–1–Ties what you read in the poet’s work to what you read in the biography poem
–2–Gives one idea for teaching with this poet’s work in your classroom
