Basic information: What did you attend? Where was it? When did you attend the event?
Be very specific. Remember, you may only write about performing arts events or exhibitions of artwork that you have experienced during this semester. This assignment must be produced on a computer because you will need to upload it to a dropbox here in the course.
Overall impression/reaction: Was it a positive experience?
How did it compare to what you expected it to be?
The following is intended to help you focus your thoughts and describe various genres of works that you may have experienced:
Music: Describe the music. What instruments or voices were used? What styles were performed? What was your favorite piece or song that was performed? Why?
What was your least favorite piece or song that was performed? Why?
Theatre: Describe the performance (or show). Consider the staging, casting, props, lighting, costuming, make-up, and any other aspect of the performance that stood out.
What did you like best about the performance? What did you like least about the performance?
Dance: Describe the music and movement. What styles of music and dance were performed? What can you describe about the costuming, props, etc.? What did you like best about the performance? What did you like least about the performance?
Visual Artwork: Describe the exhibition, museum, or gallery. What styles of artwork were represented?
Select an artwork that you found most beautiful, interesting, or inspiring. Describe it. Then, select the artwork that you found most ugly, disturbing, or strange, and describe it. Or, if you prefer, select another artwork that you found beautiful, interesting, or inspiring, and describe it.
Further Analysis: (Be sure to apply this to each of your papers.)
Does the event or does any of the works remind you of anything you have previously experienced? How or why? Does the event or any of the works remind you of other works with which you are familiar? Do any of the works remind you of some other story or scene or mood or emotion?
How has this experience of the performing arts or visual arts affected or changed you? Explain.
