Assignment Title: Reflective Analysis Paper
Due: Weeks 7 and 10
Overview of the Assignment: Meets Competencies 2, 3, 5 (two papers, combined worth 30% of
final grade)
Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to document and measure your understanding and
insights, and application of course themes, concepts and relevant topics.
Description:
Over the course of the semester, students will submit two reflective analysis entries in response to
two assigned films (links to each film will be supplied by the instructor and listed in the Assignment
Module in CARMEN). The analysis should be based on course themes, concepts, and relevant
topics. Each paper (worth 20 points each) will be 7-8 pages in length (with no fewer than seven intext
citations from assigned readings). Additional in-text citations may be sourced from coursework
material and outside material. The paper must be written in current APA format and submitted to
the CARMEN Dropbox no later than 11:59 pm on each due date.
Due: Week 7
Analysis # 1- The Trials of Darryl Hunt or Fruitvale Station
1. Paper Requirements:
a. 7 to 8-page paper
b. Title & Reference Page (not part of the 7-8 page count)
c. A total of at least eight APA-formatted in-text citations from assigned readings
d. Double spaced, 12 pt. Times New Roman font
e. Citations and Reference page using APA format (visit the Purdue Owl website
https://owl.english.purdue.edu/ for reference)

3. After viewing the film critically analyze and apply relevant course concepts (see below) to
the major themes in the film. This paper is an analysis of themes and not a recap of plot
points in the film.
