Beside the completed spread sheet you have to submit a small written report of no more than 3 pages with a valid Title, a short Introduction containing research questions and hypotheses, a brief mentioning of the data and their source (“Material”), what tests have been used to test what research question (including a justification of their choice) (“Methods”), a summary of the Conclusions and a Discussion . With respect to the Results, they make up the completed Output Sheet, so please do not add any formulas, computations, figures or anything else than is already on the completed Output Sheet. For a good understanding of the statistical concepts and procedures, consult the slides of L10, L11 and L12. Send report (as a Word document) and completed Output Sheet by e-mail to me before Sunday 23 April. This assignment can be done as a group of maximally three persons. Names and SRN of all group members should be on the first page. Open the spread sheet “Practical 6 Output Sheet” TABLE 1a and 1b contain the data from data set 15 but re-arranged in a format that make computations easier. List the independent variables and their scale of measurement. What is the dependent variable and what is its scale of measurement? Exercises 1 – 2 are about analysing the effects of the state of MACTrace (MT = OFF, MT = ON) and the type of Routing Protocol (RT = DSR, RT = DSDV) on the performance of the network but without considering CBR. 1a. Test for an overall effect MACTrace irrespective the type of Routing Protocol using the appropriate procedure from Excel’s Data Analysis Tools. 1b. Test for the effect of MACTrace given the type of Routing Protocol by performing the same procedure as above, but for each Routing Protocol separately. Use the statistics provided by the output of the appropriate Data Analysis Tool to calculate the means + 95% Confidence limits. Compute these for each type of protocol for both states of MACTrace and write the results in TABLE 2a and TABLE 2b of the accompanying spread sheet (“Practical 6 Output Sheet”). They are to be visualised in one and the same bar plot and grouped by state of MACTrace (the frame is given in FIG. 1a) on the same spread sheet. 2. Repeat the above, but now to test for: a. An overall effect of Routing Protocol irrespective the state of MACTrace. b. The effect of Routing Protocol given the state of MACTrace. Visualise the means and confidence intervals of MT = “ON” and “OFF” as bars grouped by Routing Protocol (FIG. 1b). Summarise the main results of the above exercises (as provided by Excel’s Data Analysis Tools) in the first two columns of TABLE 3 of the Output Sheet. The columns 3 – 12 should contain the entries of the typical ANOVA terms df, SS and MS for between- and within sources of variation. All the values can be derived from information provided by Excel’s Data Analysis Tools used in exercises 1 – 2. (Hints: What is t2?
