Assessment task 1: Case study presentation (10%) The Case study presentation accounts for 10% of the final grade. Students are required to analyse the case uploaded on ilearn and present their answers in a group presentation in the week 8 tutorial. The duration of the group presentation should be a maximum of 10 minutes. Students are expected to spend approximately twenty hours analysing the case and preparing for the presentation. At the tutor’s discretion, students will be assigned to a group of 3 or 4 students. Each student within the group must participate and deliver the presentation. Each student should speak for a minimum of 2 minutes. Students are required to submit their PowerPoint slides (A maximum of 8 slides per group) upon the completion of their presentation. The case study presentation will be graded based on both the students’ ability to answer the questions and their presentation skills. Feedback on the case study presentation will be provided to students in the form of a feedback sheet upon the completion of marking. In order to grade the assignment. A mark of ZERO will be awarded for absence or nonpresentation. There is no make-up or supplementary presentations in this unit. Any group member or group leaving the tutorial early (after they have presented) will be awarded a mark of ZERO. Assessment task 2: Class tests (20%) Two in-class tests (10% each) will be conducted during the tutorials in week 6 and week 11. Each test will be a closed book exam, answered under examination conditions. Each tutorial class will be given a different question set and students must sit for the test in their registered tutorial. Students can expect to receive feedback in the week 7 and week 12 tutorial. Assessment task 3: Excel Assignment (10%) The excel assignment is worth 10% of the total assessment. The Excel assignment will allow students to demonstrate their excel skills. Excel learning will be self-directed. Students are required to study the twenty (20) excel videos uploaded on ilearn. An individual excel assignment relating to the content covered in the excel videos will be uploaded on ilearn in week 6. Students are required to complete and submit the excel assignment via iLearn by 6p.m. Friday 19th May (Week 10). 2017 Session 1 [ACCG200 Fundamentals of Management Accounting] Assessment Guide Page 4 No extension will be granted. A mark of ZERO will be given for non-submission. There will be a deduction of 10% of the total available marks made from the total awarded marks for each 24 hour period or part thereof that the submission is late (for example, 25 hours late in submission – 20% penalty). This penalty does not apply for cases in which an application for Disruption to Studies is submitted within a reasonable time frame and approved. Assessment task 4: Final examination (60%) A final examination is included as an assessment task for this unit to provide assurance that: i) the product belongs to the student and ii) the student has attained the knowledge and skills tested in the exam.
