Go to the website “Behind the Veil: Documenting African American Life in the Jim Crow South.” You can find it here: http://library.duke.edu/digitalcollections/behindtheveil/ As decsribed on the homepage, this collection of interviews, conducted by students at Duke University, includes more than 400 recorded interviews “chronicling African American life during the age of legal segregation in the American South from the 1890s to the 1950s.” For the discussion board, I want you to listen to one full interview. After listening to the interview, address the following:
1. Who’s interview did you listen to: name, gender, age, city, and state?
2. Briefly summarize the interview in a paragraph or two.
3. What were some of their experiences during the period of Jim Crow segregation, negative and postitive?
4. What stood out the most?
5. Were there any similarities between the information in Chapter 12 and the interview? Explain.
Be sure to answer the questions and respond to at least one classmate by 11:59pm, Sunday, February 28. This assignment is worth 5 points. You are not required to complete the Discussion Board assignment this week. However, be sure to complete 5 out of 10 Discussion Boards by the end of the semester.
