of telehealth applications. An example of this is telepharmacy. For instance, in the State
of Indiana, House Bill 1540 (HB 1540) passed in 2017. It defined “patient care,” “remote
dispensing facilities,” and “telepharmacy” for purposes of the laws concerning remote
dispensing facilities. A remote dispensing facility was defined as a “facility or an
automated dispensing system where prescription drugs are prepared or
dispensed without the requirement of the use of an onsite pharmacist and where
pharmacist supervision may be provided remotely.”
